Holiday Travel and Missed Workouts: Why That’s Okay

The holidays are busy. Travel ramps up, routines get disrupted, sleep schedules shift, and suddenly the training consistency you’ve built all year takes a hit. That’s normal, and more importantly, it’s okay.
At M2, we care about long-term progress, not short-term perfection. A few missed sessions or a less-structured training block during the holidays does not erase months (or years) of good work.

Consistency Isn’t About Never Missing, It’s About Returning
Training consistency isn’t defined by never missing a workout. It’s defined by how quickly and effectively you return to structured training once life settles down.
Traveling for the holidays often means:
Limited access to equipment
Less predictable schedules
More stress, less sleep, and different nutrition
Trying to force “normal” training into an abnormal situation often creates more stress than benefit. Instead, the goal during this time is simple: do what you can, when you can.
Training Outside of M2 Still Counts
If you’re away from M2 for a week or two, that doesn’t mean training stops entirely. Short sessions, hotel gyms, bodyweight circuits, walks, light runs, or mobility work all have value.
Even 15-30 minutes can:
Maintain movement quality
Keep joints feeling good
Preserve coordination and strength patterns
Make the return to heavier training smoother
Think of holiday workouts as maintenance, not progression.
Remember, you also have access to your Bridge Athletic workouts ANYWHERE. So if you need workout program inspiration, just refer to your phone.
Recovery Has Value Too
Unstructured time can actually be beneficial. Reduced training volume, lighter loads, and more rest can allow accumulated fatigue to dissipate. Many people come back from the holidays feeling fresher, more motivated, and ready to push again.
Strength isn’t lost overnight. In many cases, it’s revealed once fatigue drops.
Come Back and Get After It
The key isn’t what happens during the holidays; it’s what happens after. When you’re back, we’ll pick up where you left off, rebuild momentum quickly, and set the tone for the new year. No guilt. No “starting over.” Just smart, consistent training moving forward.
